Note: Streaming to the TV requires a Steam Controller and a high-quality network, at least 5GHz. For worldwide release later this summer, support for streaming 4K resolutions and additional controllers will be added. During the beta, playback of 1080p video at 60 FPS and support for the Steam Controller are included. The App uses the same streaming technology as Valve’s Steam Link, allowing users to play their favorite games, and even spectate VR games on the HTC Vive, wherever they watch TV. If you are in the United States and have a 2016 or 2017 Samsung UHD TV, we’d like to invite you to help test the Steam Link App, now available as a free beta from the Samsung Smart Hub. Samsung is adding Steam Link functionality directly to their latest line of Smart TVs. The newApplication works the same as the Steam Link hardware box, but you no longer need to buy the hardware to enjoy your Steam games on your large screen Samsung TV. I'm so glad I looked into this, lol.Gamers that own Samsung TVs created in 2016 or 2017 now have the ability to download a new Steam Link application which has been created by Valve and Samsung to enable you to play Steam games directly from your account on your large screen TV. I've only tried three games so far (Undermine, Dead Cells, and Hollow Knight), but no issues with any of them. I got it paired with my DS4 controller instantly with no issues (doesn't even require being hooked up to a PC to do), and the Steam Link app works flawlessly. I mean honestly, I wish everything were this easy to use, lol. It was SUPER easy to update the firmware and use. Update: So I got my 8bitdo bluetooth adapter today. The reason that I haven't just tried it out, is then I would need to figure out how to hook up my PS4 controller to my TV. But if it doesn't work as well, then I'll stick with what I have. I was curious how good it is? The main reason why I would want to use it over the physical box is that's one less thing to have plugged into my TV and router (I prefer to have everything wired if possible for faster connections). It's so simple, and easy, and just all around amazing! I also have a decent smart TV than can use the Steam Link TV app. I have a physical Steam Link, and I love it.
